One of the biggest secrets to successful weight loss in the Size Fantastic weight loss program, is that we help our clients to get in touch with their “why”. Before you can give yourself instruction to change your behavior, you need to know what is driving it. Usually the answer lies in the limbic system, this is the emotional centre of your brain. Often though, this is just a feeling, so you will be doing things before you have words to explain why you are doing them.
If you want to lose weight successfully, spend some time considering the pain you are in now because of the decisions you are making or not making, then spend some time getting really clear on your reason big enough to change. What is your “why”?
Maybe your why is that you are worth being looked after… just the way you are. After that it’s easier to add the what (to do) and how (to do it) strategy stuff. But without the why, you can’t get started in any capacity that will truly make a difference.
Most diets and weight loss attempts fail because people ask their important questions in the wrong order. They ask, “How do I lose weight?” or “What do I need to do to lose weight?” A better question to ask is “Why do I want to lose weight?”
