“Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about unbecoming everything that isn’t really you so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.” Unknown
Sometimes we define ourselves or allow others to define us by appearances or achievements, when we are so much more than that. It is tiresome and almost impossible to live up to ideals, or expectations (your own or other people’s) about what a perfect person looks like or does or doesn’t do.
Being a different weight or shape or size might not make you happy. In fact, sometimes it makes absolutely no difference to your sense of well-being or your healthy, depending on how you achieved it.
However when you embrace your worth, when you play to your strengths, when you are clear about what you stand for, who you are and what you are willing to fight for, instead when you honor yourself by accepting who you are, and standing in your uniqueness and allowing your passions, and embracing your talents, you can sharpen your skills, become accomplished, play your best game and be who you truly are. There is power in that! There is PEACE and satisfaction and healing in that.
Step 1: Accept who you are, strengths and flaws
Step 2: Get clear on what is important to you.
Step 3: Sharpen your skill sets so that you can play your best game. Love, accept, embrace, learn, grow. When I am my best me, how do I live my life? How do I live in line with my values? Who do I associate with? Who do I look up to? Who do I move away from? What do I do less of? What do I do more of? What do I need to know in order to take better care of myself?
Funnily enough, this helps you become your best you: and with that follows your best looks and your best achievements…
Your journey to Size Fantastic will have a lot do to with loving yourself back into shape! Your current weight, shape or size gives a snap shot of a bigger picture (zoomed out from all the detail) of what is going on in your life. When we zoom back in and take a closer look, we realise we are SOO much more than our weight…
Now zoom in: who are you, what are you good at, what do you love doing, what do you need, what makes you feel good about yourself, how do you make the world a better place, what do you love about yourself, what do others love about you, how do you fascinate people, or make them laugh or make them feel?
You are SOO special and so unique and SOOO WORTHY. KNOW that, embrace it and let everything else follow from that truth. Rather than trying to earn that “right” by having to look a certain way or by having to do something.
Love yourself. It starts with acceptance, and then it is followed by honoring yourself: feed your body nourishing food, rest your body and get enough sleep, connect with someone you care about: have a chat or have a cuddle, express yourself: find an outlet however big or small to express who you are in the ways you need to, that’s a start.
I love this short clip from America’s Got Talent… where someone surprises us all by showing us a glimpse of his hidden self… and it turns out to be the most beautiful treasure. It takes courage to be yourself… but don’t hide who you really are, embrace your contradictions, you never know who is waiting and wanting to love you or be moved or inspired by you!
This young man definitely had to unbecome the “I’m not good at anything” and “I’m so used to being rejected”. He found the courage to be himself, embracing all his contradictions… and was loved for it.
